Jerstin Crosby creates videos and multimedia projects which reflect  an estranged perspective on the current state of our relationship to nature. Through these interdisciplinary forms he references the language of mass media, and blurs the lines between social critique, and the surreal.

Jerstin currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, but also spent several years in Pittsburgh, where he was in residence at A.I.R., and exhibited at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and The Mattress Factory. His A.I.R. project was recently featured on the printmaking blog, Printeresting.org. The animations will be shown at AIR during the exhibition opening. Michael Hegedus graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006. He works in a range of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, screen-printing, lithography and intaglio. His work juxtaposes “the strange and the recognizable”. For this project at AIR, he worked with one million dots.

This exhibition will be the first of quarterly exhibitions at AIR in 2012,
showcasing the work of Resident Artists.

Pittsburgh 250 Portfolio
In 2008, to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the City of Pittsburgh, AIR began working on a portfolio of new works by noted artists, providing them with an opportunity to explore new facets of their work. Artists were selected in partnership with Tom Sokolowski, arts expert and former Director of the Andy Warhol Museum. The project was supported by the Heinz Endowments and the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.

The portfolio is comprised of 7 works on paper printed at AIR between 2009 – 2011. Each print is 30 by 44 inches. Artists utilized multiple techniques, outlined on the attached summary. Biographical information about each artist is also summarized.
